NOUNS
NOUNS
WHAT EXACTLY IS A NOUN ?
A noun or a sustantivo in Spanish is the name of a person, a thing, an animal or a place. In Spanish all nouns are either masculine (masculino) or feminine (femenino). They will also be singular (1) or plural (more than 1).
HOW CAN I TELL IF A NOUN IS MASCULINE OR FEMININE ?
In general masculine nouns end in an “o” and feminine nouns end in an “a” of course there are exceptions to this rule.
HOW DO I MAKE A NOUN PLURAL ?
If a noun ends a vowel a, e, i, o or u to make it plural simply add an “s” e.g. casa – casas.
If a noun ends in a consonant (not a vowel) add “es” e.g. mes – meses.
If a noun ends in a z, firstly the z must be changed to a “c” then add “es” e.g. lapiz – lapices.
